A few weeks ago, I'd wanted to meet up with a new friend I'd met through Telegram, and we opted to visit Gourmand - a classic Georgian fine dining spot. Noteworhty - there is often live music playing. There are also two floors, and a very pleasant, quiet atmosphere on the second floor. Of course, keep in mind, during performances, it might be a bit hard to hold a conversation. So, it's a fantastic spot for a third or fourth date, but perhaps not the first! ;)
As I'm a big khenkali enthusiast, I opted to get those; I was also hoping to get some Georgian semi-sweet wine, but was informed by the waiter that I really should reconsider, as khenkali are typically paired with Georgian beer. Speaking of which, I do need to come visit the local beer factory sometime - there is beer on tap, and 3L are only 9 lari - or 3.5 dollars.
Nonetheless, I appreciated the recommendation, as the beer was a fantastic suggestion. Unlike the swill we have in Ontario, this was a pleasantly grainy, darker beer - and while I do prefer cider, I must say, I'm sure to buy more beer here in Batumi in the future.
Another thing to note - Gourmand has their own, homemade chacha. While I didn't have a chance to taste it during dinner, I must say that it smelled fantastic.
